About LaShon Ormond
Author. Advocate. Entrepreneur. Educator. Speaker. Technologist.
I am an author, yes, but also an advocate, a leader, and an avid traveler (I dream of having wings but I've settled on planes for now).

What makes me unique as a writer and an entrepreneur is that my passion for both intersect to create a reflection of who I am as a person. My philosophy is simple: I do not wish to be characterized or stereotyped by a single label. If something interests me, I believe I have the right to pursue that interest and I encourage that in our youth, to not be limited by labels or categories but to pursue the unlimited possibilities that lie within them.

When I'm not involved in my writing projects, I serve as an educational consultant and in service to programs whose missions are empowering and educating girls and/or youth development. It is my desire to pour into as many girls as possible, the same attentiveness, hope and love that so many community leaders shared with me through encouragement and mentorship.

Through the seminars and programs I develop and deliver and my partnerships with other community organizations, I hope to continually serve as a catalyst who helps our youth achieve their greatest potential, recognizing that I cannot do it alone, but as a member of The Village.

I am deeply committed to developing and implementing workshops, curricula and programs that will benefit each organization's unique vision and target populations. Please feel free to contact me to learn more about author events and other engagements.

Reading With LaShon in Cape Town, South Africa
Over the course of a month, I traveled the continent of Africa, learning as much about the people, the culture and the land as one can in such a short amount of time. One of the highlights of the trip was the Reading with LaShon series that my awesome illustrator and partner for the Read To Me, Please! series put together. Frank Lunar is an amazingly gifted illustrator and a wonderful human being. I can't wait to return to Cape Town for our next opportunity to share our love for reading and art with the youth.
